Cowboys Headlines: Flournoy playing free; Pickens not only tag worry; interest in Sorsby?

Among the Cowboys who are primed to explode onto the mainstream scene in 2026, consider Ryan Flournoy. The sixth-round draft pick would seem a long shot for a breakout, especially with most of the attention on CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. But Flournoy says his small-school background gave him a work ethic that is now allowing him to “play freely.”

That’s good news for Dak Prescott, who is apparently having an odd influence these days in the huddle of a division rival. Clips from the Commanders’ minicamp suggest that Washington is now using the popular “Here we go” cadence that Prescott made popular a few years ago. In other quarterback news, is Brendan Sorsby now more likely to end up a Dallas Cowboy now that he can’t enter the NFL until 2027?

And just as the George Pickens contract saga seems to have played itself out for the offseason, Cowboys Nation gets a reminder that it could all happen again next year. But with only one tag available, the Cowboys front office could find itself conflicted on how to use it, depending on how linebacker DeMarvion Overshown performs on the field this year.

The World Cup is seeing some crossover with the NFL, at least in the headlines today. The Patriots are interested in returning the favor to the Tartan Army, lobbying to play a game in Scotland after that country’s soccer fans invaded Boston and left both sides in love. George Kittle is calling out the NFL over the issue of natural-grass fields, and former Packers star Antonio Freeman is playing the role of proud soccer dad as his son shines brightly for the U.S. men’s national team. And that goalie from Cape Verde who took the world by storm with one lights-out match? He now has more social media followers than Tom Brady, just proving which game actually has a truly global audience.

Elsewhere in the NFL, the 49ers are reportedly considering moving their practice facility… but they swear it has nothing to do with that electrical substation. The Bills are showing off their swanky new digs, onetime Cowboys assistants Sean Payton and Kellen Moore are offering tips for first-time play-callers, and which NFL star is in line for a mega-trade like Giannis Antetokounmpo?
