Rams take top spot in summer power rankings ahead of 2026 season

The Los Angeles Rams continue to topple the Seattle Seahawks in offseason power rankings as teams careen toward training camp next month.

After an offseason filled with big moves, L.A. swapped spots with the defending Super Bowl champions in Nate Davis’s latest power rankings for USA Today Sports.

They were a handful of plays − two? three? − from reaching Super Bowl 60, where LA would have almost certainly dominated the Patriots, too. Yet the band isn’t exactly returning intact given the stunning arrival of a new lead guitarist on defense, reigning Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, along with two topflight keyboardists (CBs Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson). And with the league’s best frontman in 2025, MVP Matthew Stafford, back for at least one more year, it’s difficult to expect anything less than the Rams rocketing to the top of the charts.

It’s hard to disagree with this assessment, even for a non-Rams fan. L.A. returned the 2026 MVP in Stafford, who is presumably healthy after playing in all 17 regular-season games and all three postseason games, as well as a litany of starters on both sides of the ball. And then, as we all know, the Rams bolstered their defense with Garrett, McDuffie, Watson and even re-signed safety Kam Curl.

The loss of Jared Verse in the Garrett trade is crushing, but it’s still a net-positive for the Rams as they look to return to the Super Bowl and retake the NFC West from the Seahawks.
