Former Miami guard Tre Donaldson is staying in South Florida.
The Miami Heat signed Donaldson to a two-way contract shortly after he went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft, allowing the former Hurricanes standout to begin his professional career with the organization.
After signing, he was seen wearing the Miami Heat hat while he was on Instagram live.
“Chat, they in trouble. I ain’t going nowhere,” he said on his account.
At 6-foot-3, 198 pounds, Donaldson was one of the ACC’s top guards during his lone season at Miami, averaging 16.4 points, 5.7 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. He earned second-team All-ACC honors and helped lead the Hurricanes to an NCAA Tournament appearance in Jai Lucas’ first season as head coach.
Before transferring to Miami, Donaldson spent the 2024-25 season at Michigan. He started 31 of 38 games for the Wolverines and averaged 11.3 points per game while helping guide the program to postseason play.
Donaldson began his collegiate career at Auburn, where he played two seasons before transferring to Michigan and later finishing his career with the Hurricanes.
Tre Donaldson’s decorated career in Tallahassee
A Tallahassee native, Donaldson built his reputation at Florida High, where he was a key member of the Seminoles’ 2022 FHSAA Class 3A state championship team under head coach Charlie Ward, the current Florida A&M coach. Donaldson was named Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year following his standout senior season.
He also excelled in football at Florida High, starting at quarterback and safety. In 2020, he earned All-Big Bend Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Now, Donaldson will look to continue his rise at the professional level as he joins the Heat organization, aiming to turn a two-way contract into a permanent spot on an NBA roster.
