Curtis coached Forks to state final

Curtis guided Chenango Forks to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class B championship game. That followed a third consecutive Section 4 title for the Blue Devils, who were a 69-58 winner over Marcellus in the state semifinals.

Forks finished with a 19-8 record and the No. 2 Class B ranking from the New York State Sports Writers Association. The Blue Devils fell to Yonkers Montessori, 65-60, in overtime in the state final.

Scott reached 400 wins during memorable season

Horseheads finished with an 18-4 record after a 57-30 win over Cornwall in the regional final gave Scott his 400th victory as head coach of the school’s girls basketball team.

The Blue Raiders fell to eventual champion North Tonawanda in the semifinals. Horseheads finished with the No. 2 Class AA state ranking from the New York State Sports Writers Association.

Scott described this past season’s team as “one of the hardest-working groups” he has coached. He also praised the contributions of assistant coaches Patrick Bonnell and Jerry Laney.

This is the first time Scott has been named Coach of the Year by the BCANY.

Scott guided Horseheads to the state semifinals in baseball this past spring.
