How the city of Corpus Christi will split up its funding next year for public services — such as parks, roads and animal care — is now on the table for debate, with publication of initially proposed budgets.
The hefty documents outlining a first take on the city’s operating and capital improvement budgets were posted online for review as of July 28.
They are available at the city of Corpus Christi’s website here.
Publication of the budgets represents a kickoff to more than a month of discussions among City Council members and the community, hammering out how the city chooses to allocate its revenues and spending.
Although staff handles the initial proposal that is delivered to the council — the documents that are now available online — it is up to the council to make a final call on whether to sign off on those recommendations.
It’s planned that the City Council will take its first vote on the operating and capital improvement program budgets Sept. 2, and a second and final vote Sept. 9, according to a July 18 memo.
The 2026 fiscal year runs from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026.
