The San Angelo Standard-Times will preview local high school football teams throughout August ahead of the 2025 season.
Eldorado Eagles
District: 4-2A DII
2025 record: 5-6, 3-2
Head coach: William Robledo
Most recent district championship: 2019
State titles: N/A
What to know
The Eagles went to the playoffs in their first season with Robledo at the helm, continuing their streak of seven consecutive trips to the postseason. Eldorado returns 12 lettermen from last year’s squad, including five starters on offense and four on defense.
Robledo said he is anticipating progression and improvement from senior quarterback Jonnie Rae Adame, noting his development during the state 7-on-7 tournament. Adame finished last season with 1,812 yards and 18 touchdowns.
In addition to his returning quarterback, Robledo said he is excited about the senior leadership of the Eagles, including defensive back Brason Brock, linebacker Garrett Walling and lineman Luther Hererra.
The biggest roadblock for postseason position is being in the same district as No. 6 Wink and No. 21 Iraan. If the Eagles can start fast and build momentum into their district schedule, they have a real shot at upsetting the presumptive district favorites.
Coach William Robledo on the 2025 season
“It’s always good to feel like you’re in the mix,” Robledo said. “We had to replace a good senior class and defensive line. The young guys after their first scrimmage really picked up their game and held their own, so we’re excited about that… Our senior leadership (is our biggest strength) we have a good group of seniors that knows how to connect with those underclassmen and get everybody involved, staying positive with everybody, and just the overall team atmosphere that those seniors create.”
