The City of Amarillo has a bunch of events and programs offering various services for residents throughout the month of April, including a pet vaccine clinic, park clean-up day, repair cafe and more.
On Thursday, April 9, an open community conversation called Your Parks, Your Voice aims to foster communication between the City and Amarillo Parks & Recreation board members and residents.
The forum takes place 6-7 p.m. at the Amarillo Downtown Library, 413 SE 4th Ave. The community is invited to share feedback on the parks, programs, and facilities within Amarillo directly with those who serve on the advisory board.
The program is free and open to all, and registration is not required.
Free pet vaccinations for Amarillo owners, April 11
Amarillo Animal Welfare & Management is partnering with the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine and severallocal/national partners to facilitate a community-wide free pet vaccine clinic.
They will be offering free vaccinations and microchipping at the Pavilion at the Santa Fe Depot, located at 401 S. Grant St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11.
The clinic is open to Amarillo residents only. No registration is required.
The vaccinations available will be for rabies for both dogs and cats, as well as DAPP for dogs and HCP for cats. The clinic is first-come, first-served and available while supplies last.
AAMW says all dogs must be secured on a leash and cats must be kept in carriers, for their safety and for others.
“Every pet deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life,” said AAMW Outreach Manager Kali Dennis. “By reducing barriers to care, we can support pet owners in giving their animals the protection they need and deserve.”
