INDIANAPOLIS — Stephanie White is officially headed to Germany in September.
The Indiana Fever coach was named Thursday an assistant on Kara Lawson’s USA Basketball coaching staff, joining Phoenix coach Nate Tibbetts and Golden State coach Natalie Nakase.
This announcement isn’t a surprise — it’s the same coaching staff that went to the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in Puerto Rico in March.
“It was a lot of fun when you’re working with the best players in the world, with tremendous coaches, you learn a lot every time you have an opportunity to be in the gym with different types of players and different types of basketball minds,” White said. “You learn a lot, and so it was a great experience for me, a lot of fun to work with these players and these coaches, and looking forward to continuing.”

The FIBA World Cup runs September 4-13, and there will be a league-wide break in action during that time as the roster is made up of WNBA players.
White could have some of her own players joining her on that trip, too. Fever star Caitlin Clark made her Team USA Senior National Team debut and won MVP at the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament in March, putting her in a good position to make the team for the World Cup.
Aliyah Boston was originally named to the World Cup qualifying roster, but had to pull out last-minute because of a lower leg injury she suffered at the end of March. Despite that, Boston has been in multiple senior national team camps and made the Olympic Qualifying Tournament roster in early 2024, so she has a good chance to make the roster, as well.
USA Basketball has not said when the roster will be announced.
