There is a more likely than not chance that the Cleveland Browns are going to be in the quarterback market come the 2027 NFL Draft. The bad news is that that would mean another disaster season in 2026.
The good news? Well, the 2027 quarterback class is loaded.
On Tuesday, FanDuel released its Top 10 quarterback rankings, and it is good for Browns fans to get familiar with some of the names on the list.
The consensus 1.1 is going to be Arch Manning. Whether you like it or not, Manning has the tools to be a great quarterback in the modern era. Everyone will remember his two uncles as two legitimate statues in the backfield carving defenses up with their minds. Arch isn’t like that.
Arch is a plus athlete with the brains of his two uncles. Going into the season, he is the top quarterback, and if he shows that he has developed his game in certain areas, he is going to stay there come the 2027 NFL Draft.
If Cleveland lands a draft pick outside of the top one, they are still going to have their pick of the litter.
Oregon quarterback Dante Moore checks in at No. 2, Trinidad Chambliss from Ole Miss, Darien Mensah from Duke & Miami, followed by CJ Carr from Notre Dame, round out the top five. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin falls right outside the top five at the No. 6-ranked quarterback.
Now, not all of these players have NFL potential. I personally believe that Chambliss is going to max out as a great college quarterback and likely nothing much more. Sayin will be a fascinating study because he is undersized and blessed with the best wide receivers in the world. His evaluation will be interesting to see how scouts and teams land on him.
A couple of names at the bottom of the list should garner some attention. Jayden Maiava from USC and Drew Mestemaker from North Texas & Oklahoma State will both turn heads with their sheer size, athletic ability, and arm talent.
In a perfect world, the Browns are not picking high enough to pick any of these guys. That perfect world has them sticking with Shedeur Sanders after making a run to the playoffs. That perfect world scenario is likely more of a dream than it is reality.
If the season goes sideways, there are several names to keep your eyes on to get the next chance to do the impossible: save the Cleveland Browns franchise.
