A Canton man accused of attempted murder led law enforcement in Summit County on a dramatic chase July 7 that involved a flipped Summit Metro Parks police cruiser and a foot chase through a Stow neighborhood before he was caught, police said.
Julius Edwards, 39, was wanted in connection with a stabbing in Canton.
Canton police responded at 6 a.m. July 7 to a home on 15th Street SW.
Police said they found a 33-year-old woman on the floor with several stab wounds and a large knife sticking out of her right arm. A police officer put a tourniquet around the arm.
The victim, her mother, a man and two juveniles also were at the home. Most were asleep at the time and didn’t see what happened, according to the report. A second knife was also located.
No one answered the door at the home when a reporter stopped by during the morning on July 8.
The woman was taken to Aultman hospital for treatment. Canton Police Department Lt. Dennis Garren later confirmed she was in stable condition.
Police said Edwards was identified as the victim’s boyfriend.
According to the police report, “While on scene, a male’s voice came through a Ring camera on the front door, and stated he wanted to kill her and tried to do so.”
Police said Edwards had believed he had killed the victim at that moment.
