Police say driver in fatal Cincinnati hit-and-run had no license

Police arrested a man without a driver’s license after they say he struck a man in West Price Hill and fled.

Josue Lopez Gonzalez, 25, is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident in connection with the May 16 crash, according to a department news release.

Officers were called just after 10 p.m. that day to the 4700 block of Guerley Road, police said in a news release.

A 46-year-old man, later identified as Percy Reliford, was outside a home loading a utility trailer when police say he was struck by Gonzalez. Attempts by first responders to save Reliford’s life were unsuccessful. He died of his injuries at the scene.

Police say Gonzalez was driving without a license at the time of the crash, according to court records. He had previously been charged in 2025 for not having a driver’s license and failing to control his car after a different wreck, court records show.

Officers arrested Gonzalez on an outstanding warrant in connection with the crash on June 22. He remains in custody at the Hamilton County Justice Center and is expected to be arraigned June 23 in the Hamilton County Municipal Court.
