“Glow STEM/Math Night” Illuminates B.L. Miller Family Fun, Welcomes Hundreds
The lights were off, but the learning potential was shining brightly this month at B.L. Miller Elementary’s Family STEM/Math Glow Night event.
Students in the school and their families took part in games and fun educational stations during the event sponsored by the district in partnership with the United Way of Youngstown & the Mahoning Valley’s Success After 6.
Glow-themed activity stations included Glow Math Jenga; Glow Balloon Art with district teacher Danielle Weimer and Success After 6 Champion Hannah Weimer; Glow Math Bowling; and math literacy and art stations. At Glow Gear Stations, students applied glow-in-the-dark tattoos, and received jewelry, glow sticks, yo-yos and creative face art.
“Each year we try to change up the activities and stations, keeping it new and engaging for our students and their families,” said Jill Dennis, family engagement coordinator for Sebring Local Schools and the district’s Success After 6 coordinator. “This continues to be one of our most popular events, with 260 in attendance, and we couldn’t do it without our partners at Success After 6 and our (Partners in Education) group.”
