A Flag Day ceremony June 14 at Glamorgan Castle in Alliance paid tribute to the Stars & Stripes and 26 Alliance residents who had a strong impact on the Carnation City’s history.
The Kick Off Flag Day event featured a celebration of a display of 250 American flags at Glamorgan Castle. The flags are placed around the castle’s grounds and along the walkways. They will remain in place through the Fourth of July, when the United States will mark its 250th birthday.
Nearby are placards that detail the histories of the 26 people who make up the inaugural class of Alliance Historical Society’s Hall of Fame.

The Sunday afternoon event also included remarks from Carnation City leaders such as Mayor Andy Grove, Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce President Rick Baxter and Art Garnes, president of Alliance Historical Society.
Those on hand for the event enjoyed free ice cream while they walked among the flags and placards learning more about the city’s history.
