What will first weekend of spring look like in Binghamton? See forecast

Binghamton residents can expect a fairly rainy start to spring.

National Weather Service Binghamton meteorologist Danielle Knittle said rain is in the forecast throughout most of the weekend, with the exception of March 21.

However, no significant weather is expected despite some rain showers. Here’s some insight into the weather March 20-22 in Binghamton, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather on the first day of spring in Binghamton

Knittle said March 20 will bring a “wet end to the week,” with an 80% chance of rain showers throughout the afternoon and a high near 54 degrees.

There is a chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. before shifting to rain after 1 p.m., with the possibility of between a quarter-inch and a half-inch of precipitation. Along with the rain, it could also be a windy afternoon, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

The evening shows an 80% chance of rain, mainly before 8 p.m., with new precipitation amounts between a tenth of an inch to a quarter of an inch of rain, and a low around 35 degrees.

Weather March 21 in Binghamton

March 21 could bring residents a nice break from rain, as Knittle said it should be a dry day.

The afternoon shows partly sunny skies and a high near 51 degrees.

There is a slight chance of rain expected overnight into March 22, but it is not expected until after 2 a.m. Otherwise, the evening shows mostly cloudy skies and a low around 36 degrees.

Weather March 22 in Binghamton

The break from rain won’t last too long, as there is a 60% chance of rain throughout the afternoon, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 59 degrees.

Showers are expected before 2 p.m., and then rain is likely after 2 p.m.

The evening shows a 70% chance of rain, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 33 degrees.
