“He was adopted as a puppy. They had him for about five months and returned him,” said Aleigha Gabor, a humane agent and animal care attendant for the Humane Society of Richland County. “The reason stated was that he was aggressive with children.

“I think aggressive is the wrong word. I think he is just way too big for kids who are not used to big dogs.”

Blinkin got off to a rough start in life.

“He came in as a humane agent pull,” Gabor said. “He was found emaciated on a porch with his siblings.”

She said Blinkin is a “good boy” and is very smart.

“He just wants to play. He does great with dogs, cats,” Gabor said. “I think he will be OK with older kids who know how to handle bigger dogs.

“He would be an awesome dog to train. He takes commands so well.”

The fee to adopt Blinkin is $175. The humane society is located at 3025 Park Avenue West in Ontario. Its hours are 12-4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 12-3 p.m. on Saturday. The shelter is closed Sunday and Tuesday. People also can visit adoptourstrays.com or call 419-774-4795.
