With September fast approaching, hundreds of visitors and Southern Tier residents will be heading to downtown Binghamton for LUMA, the region’s premier annual light show.
While many light shows consist of images projected onto screens, LUMA uses the architecture of Binghamton’s historical downtown buildings. The event will take place on Sept. 5-6 in 2025, and is always free to the public, drawing tens of thousands of spectators each year.
In addition to providing free entertainment, LUMA also supports local businesses, many of which have stands placed on the street throughout the night. According to LUMA’s website, the estimated one-night economic impact for the area is $900,000.
The 2025 light show schedule has yet to be announced.
