Vote: Section V's Football Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-21 presented by Faber Builders

It’s time to take a look at the standout performers from Section V.

Your vote will determine who will be the Faber Builders Football Sports Athlete of the Week for September 15-21. The players’ credentials are listed above the poll — which will be live until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The winner will be announced on our Instagram page Thursday.

The nominees are chosen by our sports reporters. If you would like to call attention to an athlete’s performance to be considered for the nomination, please email sports@democratandchronicle.com. All athletes who play on Section V football teams are eligible to be nominated.

Now, let’s meet the candidates.

Evan Blye

Avon senior completed 10 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns in the RiverHawks’ shutout win over Geneseo/Mt. Morris.

Liam Campbell

York/Pavilion defender totaled 18 tackles in Friday’s 27-6 win against Canisteo-Greenwood.

Zane Kropman

Penfield junior carried 37 times for 187 yards, including two touchdowns during a 21-0 win at McQuaid.

Brendan Mangone

Rush-Henrietta quarterback threw for three touchdown passes in Thursday’s win over Aquinas, which bumped the Royal Comets to 3-0.

Nasir Manthorne

Defender posted a pick-six of 70 yards in the Titans’ comeback win against Victor.

Travis Portis

Athena skill player totaled three touchdowns and 209 yards from scrimmage (138 rushing, 71 receiving) in the Trojans’ win over rival Greece Arcadia.

Zack Rossignol

Brighton fullback/linebacker, a junior, scored two rushing touchdowns, recovered a fumble and made six tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage during a 28-13 win over Spencerport.

Gavin White

University Prep junior blocked a field goal attempt during the final 30 seconds that a teammate returned for a touchdown and gave the Griffins a 35-26 win at Fairport. White finished with 42 rushing yards, including a 10-yard run that gave UPrep a 28-20 lead with 9:36 remaining. UPrep’s quarterback completed 12 of 18 pass attempts, including a 51-yarder for a touchdown.
