When you can watch a new holiday movie set and filmed in Door County is still up in the air, but we now know the where.
“A Cherry Pie Christmas” will debut on cable TV channel Great American Family, according to TV production and distribution company Nicely Entertainment. An exact date has not yet been announced.
GAF is available through major cable providers and on streaming services, including Frndly TV, Fubo TV, Philo, Hulu, DirecTV Stream and Sling TV. Launched in 2021, it focuses on family-friendly programming, including original holiday movies, rom-coms and series that celebrate faith, family and country.
Following the film’s premiere on GAF, Nicely confirmed it will then be available on video-on-demand streaming after Nov. 15.
“A Cherry Pie Christmas” tells the story of a Chicago pastry chef (played by Katie Leclerc) who returns to her Door County hometown during the holidays, rekindles an old romance (Ryan Carnes) and must decide between her career dreams and saving her family’s struggling cherry orchard business.
The movie was filmed entirely in Door County in early spring. Among the iconic Door County landmarks that show up in the trailer released in August are Hillside Waterfront Hotel in Ephraim, The White Gull Inn, Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market and Eagle Tower at Peninsula State Park, all in Fish Creek.
Christmas party, cooking and attic scenes were all filmed at the Hillside, owner Diane Taillon told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. She also landed an unexpected role as a grandmother in the movie.
Actor Ed Amatrudo (“Nashville,” “Stranger Things”) shared with his Facebook followers on Sept. 5 that he’s in the cast. “It was shot in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, in April and if you like ‘Hallmarky’ movies I think you’ll love this one,” he wrote.
