One person is dead after being struck by a school bus on Blauvelt Road in Monsey on Wednesday morning.
The crash happened around 11 a.m., according to reports from the scene. Officers with the Ramapo Police Department, along with Rockland Hatzoloh paramedics and Chaverim of Rockland volunteers, responded and attempted lifesaving measures. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Victim not officially identified
Ramapo police have not officially released the victim’s identity, age or gender.
Recent fatalities in Ramapo
The tragedy is the latest in a series of fatal crashes in the Town of Ramapo.
In June, an 8-year-old girl was struck and killed by an SUV while riding her bicycle in Pomona.
In January, a child was struck and killed in New Square, and another child was seriously injured after falling from the back of a bus in a separate incident just days later.
Investigation continues
Ramapo police have not released additional details about Wednesday’s crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
