The New York Jets are scheduled to possess three first-round picks in next year’s 2027 NFL draft. Everyone expects them to target a franchise quarterback to succeed Geno Smith. That’s precisely what happens in this latest way-too-early mock draft from NFL Draft On Sports Illustrated. After getting the QB, Darren Mougey shifts attention to the defense.
Arch Manning goes No. 1 overall to division rival Miami Dolphins in this first-round mock draft. After the Arizona Cardinals took wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, the Jets nab Oregon quarterback Dante Moore at No. 3 overall.
“The New York Jets almost certainly would have drafted Dante Moore had he declared for the 2026 draft, so life has a funny way of working itself out,” NFL Draft On SI wrote. “The Jets have a strong supporting cast in place on offense after re-signing Breece Hall and drafting Omar Cooper Jr. and Kenyon Sadiq. A quarterback like Moore would complete the Jets’ multi-year rebuild.”
After getting Moore, the Jets pick again at No. 14 overall (from the Indianapolis Colts). They take Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV. Cornerback has been a need since trading Sauce Gardner midseason.
“Trading Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner created a long-term hole for the Jets at cornerback,” On SI continued. “They recently drafted D’Angelo Ponds, but he’s more of a nickel than boundary defender. Georgia’s Ellis Robinson IV showcased elite ball skills last season by recording four interceptions. Remember the Jets didn’t have a single pick in 2025.”
Just two picks later, Mougey selects Oregon defensive tackle A’Mauri Washington, reuniting him with Moore.
“The New York Jets are still searching for a long-term solution for Quinnen Williams. It only makes sense they address that need with the pick they acquire from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for Williams. A’Mauri Washington is bigger, but still gets into backfields at a high level. Washington would have been a borderline first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft had he declared.”
