Flag Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital

Who will be the lohud Flag Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital? It’s time to look at the standouts from May 26-June 7, the two weeks spanning the state tournament.

Yorktown is the Class B state champion. Westlake/Briarcliff fell in the Class C semifinals. Mamaroneck’s season ended in the Class A regional finals. Scarsdale’s season ended in the Class A regional semifinals.

Check out the nominees in lohud Flag Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital, and cast your vote. The athletes’ credentials are listed above the fan poll, which will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 10. The winner will be announced on lohud sports social media on Wednesday.

This week’s nominees were from coaches and also from staff based on postseason performance.

Past winners this season: Juliana DiMarino, Westlake/Briarcliff, Juliana DiMarino, Westlake/Briarcliff; Lia Buerkle, Putnam Valley; Alexa Keller, Eastchester; Eva Monaco, Yorktown; Mya Ustares, Dobbs Ferry; Maddy Reilly, Yorktown; Sydney Soliz, Yorktown.

Let’s meet the candidates.

Maddie Cashman, Mamaroneck

The junior quarterback had a touchdown pass in Mamaroneck’s 14-12 loss to Middletown in a Class A regional final in Goshen on June 2.

Erin Duffy, Yorktown

The freshman had six touchdown receptions from quarterback Sophia Marcello in the state final four – three in the semifinals, three in the final – as Yorktown won the Class B state championship.

Isabella Murray, Westlake/Briarcliff

The sophomore had eight receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown in Westlake/Briarcliff’s loss to Shoreham-Wading River in a Class C state semifinal.

Reese Newman, Scarsdale

The junior quarterback had two touchdown passes in Scarsdale’s loss to Union-Endicott on May 27 in the Class A regional semifinals.
