A retired Yonkers fire captain was arrested after allegedly possessing and sharing sexually explicit images of girls, the Westchester District Attorney’s Office said.
Scott Denet, 57, of Shrub Oak, was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday, May 26, on felony charges of promoting and possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child.
According to the felony complaint, Denet allegedly shared a photo of a naked girl on the application Thundr on July 31, 2025. Last month, he allegedly possessed a video file of a naked girl engaging in sexual activity.
“Those who possess and share child sexual abuse material are not merely engaging in legally prohibited conduct, they are retraumatizing the victims depicted in those videos who still bear the scars of their abuse,” Westchester DA Susan Cacace said in a statement.
Denet’s possession of the images was flagged by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and referred to the DA’s Hi Tech Unit, which investigated the case with NCMEC and the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The DA’s news release emphasized that Denet’s alleged crimes occurred after he retired in 2023. According to SeeThroughNY.net he retired in April 2023 and his annual pension is $120,016.
Denet was released without bail and is due back in court on June 30. The top charge, promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, is punishable by up to seven years in state prison.
A lawyer representing him could not immediately be identified.
