The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Kingston High School selected Claire McFarland and Colton Parese.

Claire McFarland
Class rank: 3
Varsity sports: Girls soccer; indoor track and field; girls golf
Athletic honors: Soccer – Section 9 tourney team qualifier; indoor track and field – 400- and 800-meters runner; top 10 team finish in state and Federation; golf – team captain
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: National Honor Society; student government secretary; Girls Who Code club treasurer; placed second in Science Olympiad regionals; drum major and section leader for marching band; math and chemistry tutor
Community service: Edson Library volunteer
Future plans: Lehigh University, majoring in chemical engineering
Colton Parese
Class rank: 35
Varsity sports: Cross country; wrestling; crew; track and field
Athletic honors: Wrestling – team captain; Section 9 tournament champion with state qualification; ranked No. 18 in state
Academic honors, extracurricular activities: National Honor Society; Model United Nations club; section leader; marching band
Community service: Volunteer with New York State troopers, National Honor Society
Future plans: Hunter College, majoring in biology; compete in wrestling
