This winter has been a long one, with few respites from the snow and cold weather.
Cabin Fever, the Corning Gaffer District’s 17th annual winter wine and beer tasting event set for Feb. 20, is designed to shake off the cold-weather blahs and remind everyone that downtown is still brimming with life.
Catherine Price, Gaffer District Executive Director, said the event invites residents and visitors to get out, gather, and enjoy the season. Cabin Fever runs from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 20; check in begins at 4 p.m.
Cabin Fever is a relaxed, social stroll through downtown Corning, featuring local wine, craft beer, and welcoming stops inside participating businesses along Bridge Street and Market Street.
“It’s the perfect excuse to bundle up, grab friends, and enjoy our winter wonderland downtown,” Price said.
Cabin Fever is a ticketed event that highlights local wine, craft beer, and participating downtown businesses, Price said. Guests explore Bridge Street and Market Street at their own pace, sampling curated pours while shopping and dining.
How Cabin Fever, Corning Museum of Glass are teaming up
This year’s event coincides with a major community milestone, as the Corning Museum of Glass kicks off its 75th anniversary celebration the same evening.
To help guests enjoy both experiences, the Gaffer District will offer a complimentary shuttle for attendees of either event looping between Cabin Fever locations on Market Street and Bridge Street and the Corning Museum of Glass, making it easy to celebrate across Corning’s cultural corridor in one memorable night.
“Cabin Fever is one of those events that reminds people that Corning has year-round vibrancy,” Price said. “Pairing this longtime downtown tradition with the Museum’s 75th anniversary kickoff and offering a shuttle to connect it all creates an incredible opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Corning special. We hope our community, and visitors, brave the cold to support our local businesses and the Museum of Glass.”
Cabin Fever takes place throughout Corning’s Gaffer District and features three check-in stations and approximately 20 to 25 tasting stops hosted by participating local businesses.
Upon check-in, guests receive a tasting glass and wristband, allowing them to visit each location and sample beer, wine, and other beverages, Price said. Designated drivers will receive a special wrist band and receive access to all the perks of attendance.
