The New York Giants fell to a 2-8 record on Sunday after suffering another disappointing collapse against the Chicago Bears. The aftermath of the Giants’ eighth loss of the season — and their 11th consecutive road defeat — resulted in the dismissal of head coach Brian Daboll.
The Giants did, however, improve their position in the 2026 NFL draft projections. Following the Week 10 results, the Giants are currently projected to select third overall in April, according to Tankathon.
The Giants are one of five teams with two wins, so their standing could shift rapidly, particularly with their bye week approaching.
With general manager Joe Schoen’s position reportedly secure — he is expected to lead the head coaching search — the key question now is who will serve as head coach to guide the Giants’ first-round selection in 2026. This additional high-value pick enhances the appeal of the Giants’ head coaching vacancy as they pursue their next leader.
The Giants’ roster requires significant reinforcements, particularly at guard, wide receiver, and cornerback. Notably, the Giants selected Abdul Carter third overall in the 2025 NFL draft.
Seven challenging games remain on the Giants’ schedule, and victories will be difficult against their upcoming opponents. Should the Giants secure a top-five pick, they may consider trading down to acquire assets from a quarterback-needy team, given the 2026 draft class’s reputation for strong quarterback talent.
Much remains to be decided over the NFL’s final eight weeks. Nevertheless, the Giants appear poised to secure another high-value first-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
