As the Indianapolis Colts took the field on Wednesday for their second OTA practice, participating was quarterback Daniel Jones, only about six months removed from an Achilles injury.

According to media members in attendance, Jones went through the individual portion of the practice, while Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard shouldered the quarterback reps in the team drills.

Head coach Shane Steichen is already bullish about Jones being available for training camp in July, but what about the start of the regular season?

If you ask Jones, he plans to be available come Week 1, when the Colts open the 2026 season at home against the Baltimore Ravens.

“Absolutely,” he said.

Jones continued, “Definitely still work to be done and progress to be made. So, I think it’s just continuing to get stronger, continuing to run faster, cut harder. And progress, kind of, according to the program.”

Prior to Jones’ injury last season, he was off to a red-hot start, guiding the Colts to an 8-2 record through the first half of the year. This included Jones being one of the most productive quarterbacks in the NFL across several key categories.

This offseason, he signed a two-year, $88 million free agent deal to return to Indianapolis. Internally, the Colts believe that Jones can regain last season’s form and sustain it throughout the year.
