The newly opened Flix Brewhouse in Lubbock took people on a culinary plot twist during an event, showcasing how it’s menu takes guests on an adventure.
During the Bites & Brews event, guests experienced a multi-course meal with drink pairings to show the array of the Flix Brewhouse menu. The ribbon cutting had staff serving bowls of Elote Popcorn, and glasses of Flix beers and Space Ranger blue raspberry soda before the dinner began. Here’s what Flix showcased during its first Bites & Brews event, along with what COO David Mullier named as must-try items.
“I think when people come to a movie theater, they think popcorn and soda and sometimes sticky floors,” Mullier said. “We’re not just a movie theater that has popcorn and candy and those types of things. We’re constantly creating limited time food and beverage offerings paired specifically to movies.”
“I think it shows the culinary skill of our team and the craft of our beverage program,” Mullier said. “What we found was that we have a diverse movie slate, and the passion and the craft that we put into making our scratch-made beer, we should be applying that to our food as well.”

Mullier said the margarita is a fan-favorite, along with the Elote popcorn. His daughter invented the Truffle Shuffle pizza, which received rave reviews during the event.
“I would say the pizza and the tacos are probably my favorite items on the menu right now,” Mullier said. “My favorite drink is the Nebula hazy IPA. It’s my absolute go-to.”
One of the ways Flix stands out is with something many people took up during the pandemic, sourdough. However, Flix’s mother sourdough, known as Mama, is 15 years old. Every location gets a piece of the starter dough and expands on it to create the pizza dough, daily.

The menu, hospitality, and special events set Flix apart from the competition, according to Mullier.
“I think that’s how we really did it was as films were slow to get released by Hollywood, we bridged the gap by creating experiential moviegoing moments, letting people see their favorite classic films on the big screen,” Mullier said. “I got tot take my kids to Jurassic Park. We got to share that moment with them, when there’s a T-Rex on the big screen.”
