The more than 5 million Floridians who receive Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits have an easy month ahead to budget. All payments will arrive on the usual schedule in July.
SSI checks will be paid on Wednesday, July 1, and Social Security benefits will show up on Wednesdays, based on recipients’ birthdays, as usual.
But recipients may notice some other changes soon.
First, those few people still receiving paper checks each month will be transitioned to electronic payments by the end of the year, according to the Social Security Administration.
More than 99% of the 70.6 million Americans who receive Social Security and SSI benefits already get their benefits directly deposited into their checking accounts or onto Direct Express prepaid debit cards.

Second, the name on the debit cards is changing. The Treasury Department is changing the bank that handles recipient debit cards — Fifth Third Bank is replacing Comerica Bank as the financial agent for the Direct Express card program, the SSA said in a May 18 notice.
New Direct Express card enrollees are already getting Fifth Third Bank cards, the SSA said. The transition of current beneficiaries with existing Direct Express cards from Comerica to Fifth Third Bank will begin later this year or early next year, according to the agency. The change will affect about 3.6 million cardholders, according to The Motley Fool.
The new cards will work the same way, and current cards will remain fully functional, the agency said.
For both changes, recipients should make sure their direct deposit and contact information are up-to-date as soon as possible so payments and new card deliveries will arrive on time.
Here’s what to know about the July payment schedule and where to find a Social Security office in Florida.
July 2026 Social Security payment schedule
Social Security benefits, paid mostly to recipients who are older or retired, are typically paid on Wednesdays, and most people receive their check on one of three Wednesdays each month based on their birth date. In June, that means:
People who started getting Social Security before May 1997 follow a different schedule and are paid on the third of each month instead of a Wednesday‑based date.

When will SSI checks be sent early in 2026?
SSI, a program to help people with limited or no income or resources, people aged 65 or older, and people who are blind or have a qualifying disability, sends benefits on the first of the month. When that date lands on a holiday or weekday, as it did in January and February, the check goes out on the latest weekday prior.
July is a normal month and benefits will arrive on Wednesday, July 1.
The next time SSI checks will go out early will be on Friday, July 31, since Aug. 1 lands on a Saturday. After that, the schedule will remain normal until November, when the benefit will arrive on Oct. 30.
The first check of 2027 will be sent on New Year’s Eve due to the holiday.
