The Indiana Fever had a rough game against the Atlanta Dream over the weekend, getting bullied in the second half of a 113-96 loss.
Kelsey Mitchell had the Fever highlight, making a move that sent Atlanta’s Te-Hina Paopao to the court. Mitchell made a wide-open 3-pointer.
A common “ankle breaker” leaves a defender off balance on one foot. This one left both of Paopao’s feet out of control.
Sports and entertainment author Shea Serrano called the “double ankle breaker” a move so rare that it deserves recognition in basketball’s hall of fame.
“i’ve been watching basketball for 40 years and i have NEVER seen someone get BOTH of their ankles broken at the same time,” he wrote on social media.
