Midland junior voted fans' choice for Peoria-area girls basketball player of the year

Midland’s Anna McGlasson was voted the 2026 fans’ choice for player of the year in girls basketball in the Peoria area, beating out nine other nominees in a vote that closed March 4.

McGlasson earned 41.25 percent of the nearly 8,000 votes. She outdistanced Avery Tibbs of Washington, who earned 31.05 percent. No other player got more 9.0 percent.

Voting ran through noon Wednesday, March 4, one day ahead of the 2026 IHSA state finals. This vote has no bearing on who will be selected the Journal Star Player of the Year or will make the annual all-area team, which are scheduled to be announced after the season.
