Jalen Quinn has earned some accolades for the Drake men’s basketball team.
The senior from Tuscola, Illinois, was named first team All-Missouri Valley Conference on Wednesday, March 4. He also earned all-newcomer team honors as a transfer from Loyola-Chicago, which had been a member of the MVC before moving to the Atlantic 10 in 2022. UNI sophomore Will Hornseth was named to the league’s Most-Improved Team.
Quinn led the MVC in scoring this season with an average of 19.4 points per game while also putting up four games of 30+ points, the most of any player in the league. He is the sixth Drake player ever to lead the MVC in scoring, following up on what Bennett Stirtz accomplished last season.
He’s getting hot at the right time, too. Drake enters the MVC Tournament having scored 20 points or more in 10 of the last 14 games. The Bulldogs (12-19, 6-14 MVC) will need to lean on him during the conference tournament, which begins for Drake on Thursday, March 5, against Southern Illinois.
