Iowa State basketball is beefing up its 2027 recruiting class with its second top-50 nationally-ranked prospect.
Four-star forward Donovan Davis announced his commitment to Iowa State on Wednesday, May 6. The Kaukana, Wisconsin native chose the Cyclones over Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Marquette.
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound forward is the No. 38-ranked recruit nationally in the class of 2027, according to 247 Sports Composite.
Davis visited each of the schools in his top five list. Iowa State was his last scheduled official visit to close out the month of April.
He averaged 21.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game at Freedom High School during the 2025-26 season. He brings a versatile skill set to Cyclones as a strong slasher and finisher inside, while also sporting an improving and steady 3-point jumpshot.
Defensively, he will be able to guard multiple positions and can switch around seamlessly.
Playing for Team Herro on the Nike EYBL, he was a Session I All-Circuit honorable mention, averaging 11.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game across three contests for the first session, or weekend, of play.
Davis joins in-state commit Josiah Harrington, another four-star prospect. Harrington is the No. 50-ranked recruit in 247 Sports Composite in the class of 2027.
