Andrej Stojakovic returns to Illinois basketball for senior season

Illinois will return yet another key piece to its men’s basketball program.

Andrej Stojakovic, a 6-foot-7 junior guard, announced through his agent that he will be back in Champaign for his senior season. This gives Illinois five key players — Stojakovic, David Mirkovic, Tomislav Ivisic, Zvonimir Ivisic and Jake Davis — back from its Final Four team.

Stojakovic appeared in 34 of Illinois’ 37 games, starting 21, while averaging 26.2 minutes a game off the bench. He was the Illini’s second-leading scorer at 13.5 points a game with 4.5 rebounds per game.

During the run to the Final Four, Stojakovic was named to the all-South Region team after averaging 15.0 points and 3.0 rebounds as a reserve.

Illinois made its first national semifinal since 2005, finishing with a 28-9 record and ranked No. 5 in the final USA TODAY Coaches Poll.
