The move was confirmed by Boys & Girls Clubs Board President Monique Garcia.

Mathis Posey was the director of fund development and community engagement as well as Central Unit Director before being named as President & CEO in 2020.

Mathis Posey succeeded William Legge in 2020.

Mathis Posey told The State Journal-Register that she is headed to the Illinois Education Association as director of program development.

“During her time as CEO, she led with passion and commitment, prioritizing the well-being of the families we serve and lifting up our community,” Garcia said in an email.

In 2024, she was named Illinois CEO of the Year by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Illinois Area Council of Boys & Girls Clubs in recognition of her fundraising, youth development and community outreach efforts.

Chief Operations Officer Emily Bergschneider will serve as interim CEO, Garcia confirmed.

The club celebrated its 70th anniversary last fall.
