After report of 'trouble', teen arrested with handgun in Peoria

PEORIA – A 14-year-old boy was arrested after he was found in possession of a handgun in the East Bluff.

At 5:29 p.m. June 23, officers responded to the 1800 block of North New York Avenue after they received a report of “trouble” involving a juvenile with a handgun. When police arrived on scene, they located the 14-year-old and conducted a search, finding a handgun on him.

The teenager was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, not being in possession of a FOID card, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possessing a firearm while being under the age of 21, according to the Peoria Police Department. He was transported to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
