Going into a regional round hosted in Tallahassee for the third straight year, No. 10-seeded Florida State baseball is eyeing another trip to the Super Regionals and beyond. Firstly, they’ll have to get through three other teams: Coastal Carolina, Northern Illinois, and St. John’s. But what are the Seminoles’ records against each of these teams?
FSU’s record vs. Coastal Carolina (37-21 in 2026) is the most lopsided of the bunch, with the Seminoles dominating the Chanticleers 13-1 overall. In their last matchup in 2015, FSU was handed its lone loss against CCU, 4-2. The series dates back to 1991, but their best win came in 1994 with a 17-2 blowout.
While FSU might not have played Northern Illinois (35-17) as much, only once in 1971, the Seminoles did emerge from that game victorious, 7-1. For the first time in 55 years, perhaps the two will have a chance to meet again this weekend.
Finally, FSU has only played St. John’s (33-24) three times, all in 2016, where the Seminoles took the series against them, 2-1. A 16-4 opener, followed by a 9-2 second game, was wrapped up with a 5-1 loss.
FSU will face St. John’s first on Friday at 3 p.m. ET, with the result of Coastal Carolina and Northern Illinois determining their second-game opponent of the regional.
