When it comes to Cincinnati Bengals undrafted free agents, some big names stick out.
Bengals undrafted rookies like Eric Gentry and Jack Dingle were some of the big names making waves right out of the gates.
Rather far removed from the draft now and with OTAs hovering around, another name has started to emerge, though.
Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport looked at the most exciting undrafted free agent for each team and circled Bengals cornerback Ceyair Wright.
“Now, Ceyair Wright isn’t going to challenge for a starting spot in the Queen City,” Davenport wrote. There’s a reason why he wasn’t drafted—his speed and agility are average at best. But the 6’0″, 185-pounder started 32 games over five seasons at USC and Nebraska, and he has good technique and isn’t afraid to get dirty in run support.”
There’s a lot right there the Bengals will love. Wright has experience starting inside and out. Bonus points for his aggressiveness against the run.
Frankly, the Bengals didn’t appear to do enough at slot cornerback this offseason (yet, anyway). And better depth at the boundary is always welcome in the pros.
Since Wright can do both and has good size, he feels like a fit and could always be an outside name to keep in mind by 53-man cutdown day.
