CBS Sports came away from the draft still unsure about Tampa Bay’s receiver room, and the concern mostly centers around what exists behind the top options on the depth chart.
Chris Godwin remains the foundation of the group, while Jalen McMillan is expected to continue developing into a larger role. After that, the room starts leaning heavily on projection instead of proven production.
Third-round rookie Ted Hurst brings size and vertical ability, but expecting immediate starter-level production from a rookie receiver ignores how difficult that transition can be. He projects more as a rotational contributor early in his learning of the offense.
That leaves Tampa Bay needing somebody from the back half of the room to emerge consistently. Whether that comes from a younger player developing quickly or a depth option stepping into a larger workload remains unanswered heading into camp.
The offense still has enough top-end talent to compete, but wide receiver becomes a much different conversation if injuries force the depth into major snaps. That uncertainty is what keeps the position under the spotlight as we enter 2026.
