The Texas Longhorns softball team once again face elimination today, UT’s four elimination game of the post season. The Horns face Nebraska in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
Thursday, the Longhorns got a pitching gem from ace Teagan Kavan to down Mississippi State 4-0. Kavan, who has struggled at times in the postseason, including in the loss to Tennessee on Thursday, looked more like herself against the Bulldogs. Last year’s WCWS MVP threw a four-hit shutout and was dominant at times. The Bulldogs failed to score a run in their two WCWS games.
It ws the third time Texas has survived an elimination game in the postseason. UT faced elimination two games in the Super Regional win over Arizona State.
4th Inning: Texas 0, Nebraska 1
UT being no-hit
The Longhorns don’t have a hit off Huskers star Jordy Frahm. If UT wants to continue with its national title defense, it is going to have to find a way to scratch some hits (and runs) off Frahm.
Huskers lose challenge
Jesse Farrell hit into a force at first, stranding Hannah Coor at second. The play was very close and Nebraska challenged the out. The play stood up to review and Texas got out of the inning.
Kavan keeps Huskers quiet
A second perfect inning in a row for Kavan as the Iowa native sat down Nebraska 1-2-3.
UT bats quiet
So far, the Longhorns don’t have a hit against Jordy Frahm. The four-time All-American shut down the UT bats in the second inning as well.
Kavan Bounces Back
Texas ace Teagan Kavan bounced back after giving up a leadoff home run with a perfect second inning.

Super Star Start
Huskers superstar Jordy Frahm started the day with a leadoff homer to center field off Texas ace Teagan Kavan to give Nebraska a 1-0 lead. It’s the first time in Kavan’s career she has given off a leadoff home run to start a game.
