The day is coming close when you will no longer be able to fly out of Palm Beach International Airport.
Don’t panic.
The airport will still be there and planes will still fly.
➤ Trump airport name change is coming to Palm Beach in July
It’s the name that will change.
In July, the airport will officially become the President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
It’s not the first time the airport has undergone a name change.
Here’s what is happening.
Palm Beach International Airport to be renamed for President Donald Trump
Palm Beach International Airport posted about the name change on its website, saying the change is required by state law.
On March 30, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed HB919 allowing the state of Florida to name major commercial service airports. The bill also renamed Palm Beach International Airport to President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The bill will become law July 1.
The bill signing came just a few weeks after Palm Beach County commissioners voted March 5 on a trademark deal allowing the renaming of Palm Beach International Airport after Trump.
The measure also gave a thumbs-up to a new logo for the airport with Trump’s name and an image.
How did Florida Senate, House vote on renaming airport after Trump?
The Florida Senate voted 25-11 in favor of HB919.
The Florida House voted 81-30 in favor of HB919.

When will Palm Beach International Airport be renamed after President Trump?
The name change will become effective July 9, 2026, the airport announced on its website.
However, “transition activities, including updates to signage, branding and public‑facing materials, will occur in phases. Airport operations and services will continue without interruption.”
Final FAA approval is anticipated on July 9, 2026.
PBI code to be changed to DJT
Palm Beach International Airport’s code — PBI — will also be changed. The new airport code will be DJT.
The new code is also scheduled to be changed effective Aug. 18, the airport announced.
“The new code will be reflected in airline reservation systems, ticketing, baggage tags and related industry platforms once the change takes effect.”
When should I use DJT instead of PBI when booking flights?
“Passengers searching for flights, checking baggage information or viewing airline schedules should continue to use the airport’s three-letter IATA code, ‘PBI’ until the code changes on Aug. 18, 2026.
“After the IATA code change on Aug. 18, 2026, passengers should use the new three-letter IATA code, ‘DJT.’
“This is the code commonly used by airlines, travel websites and passenger-facing systems.”
Name change may not be received well by everyone
“While we recognize that the required name change may be received in different ways by our passengers, we’re grateful for your continued support through this transition period,” the airport said.
“We remain committed to serving all passengers and ensuring a positive travel experience. While some things may evolve over time, our core focus remains the same: providing a safe, reliable and welcoming airport experience. The people, service and convenience travelers have come to know and expect will continue to be at the heart of what we do.”
This isn’t first name change for Palm Beach International Airport
This isn’t the first time Palm Beach International Airport has taken on a new name.
When the airport first opened in 1936, it was actually called Morrison Field, after Grace K. Morrison, “who was a pioneer in the early planning and organizing.”
Morrison Field was deactivated on June 30, 1947.
Shortly after, “In 1948, the county decided that for longterm business and tourism growth, it should capitalize on the value of an internationally known name such as Palm Beach.
“On Aug. 11, the Board of County Commissioners voted to officially change the name from Morrison Field to Palm Beach International Airport.”
