Now You Know: New chapter for Marco hotel; ‘Hometown Days’ this weekend

This week the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort has announced its transition to new ownership from MassMutual, a life insurance company, to a joint venture between Sculptor Real Estate Income Strategy and Trinity Investments.

“The JW Marriott Marco Island is a truly distinctive asset within the luxury resort market,” said Steven Orbuch, founder and president of Sculptor Real Estate. “We are pleased to partner with Trinity on this investment and believe the property is well-positioned to benefit from continued demand for high-quality resort experiences. We also see meaningful opportunity to enhance the Property’s competitive position through a disciplined capital improvement program over our ownership period, further unlocking the asset’s long-term value.”

The resort will continue to operate under the JW Marriott brand, within Marriott International’s global portfolio.

“The JW Marriott Marco Island is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to acquire one of the most iconic resorts in the United States,” said Sean Hehir, managing partner, president and CEO of Trinity Investments. “With its scale and diversified demand generators, the resort has consistently demonstrated strong performance across market cycles. We are excited to partner with Sculptor Real Estate on this investment and to continue our long-standing relationship with Marriott, having successfully collaborated across multiple properties. We see significant opportunity to further enhance the guest experience while creating long-term value for our investors.”

Locally, the resort’s GM had this to say: “Our resort has long been a place where guests return year after year for the world-class service and sense of place that define this property,” said Sharon Lockwood, general manager at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort. “While ownership has evolved, what remains unchanged is our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our guests, group partners, and local community,” said Sharon Lockwood, general manager of JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort. “We are proud of the legacy built here and energized by the opportunity to build upon it with the support of new ownership that shares our long-term vision for the resort.”

Sunshine Ace Hardware to host ‘Hometown Days’

Sunshine Ace Hardware stores across Southwest Florida are celebrating the importance of community and small-town values with a series of four Ace Hometown Days events in 2026.

The May 8-10 Hometown Days event includes giveaways; flash deals; and free gifts.

The next Hometown Days will be Memorial Day (May 22-25), Father’s Day (June 19-21) and Independence Day (July 3-5).
