Key OL target explains what makes Florida State stand out

Three-star offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough is coming up on a decision in his recruitment. He’s set his commitment date for July 11, and Florida State has made the 6-foot-5, 340-pounder a top priority.

Yarborough will visit the Washington Huskies this weekend, but FSU was able to get him to Tallahassee a week ago. It was extremely key for them to make a strong impression on Yarborough, and he discussed what has made them stand out.

“The relationships and how much effort the coaching staff put into recruiting me stood out the most,” Yarborough told Rivals. “They made it clear how much they want me at FSU and showed me exactly how I fit into their plans.”

For Seminoles’ offensive line coach Herb Hand, this is an important cycle as he looks to match his prowess for finding talent in the transfer portal with bringing in premium high school recruits. He and head coach Mike Norvell were able to chop it quite a bit with Yarborough on his visit, and the former had a key message for the Basha High School star.

“I spent a lot of time with coach (Mike) Norvell, coach (Herb) Hand, and the assistant offensive line coaches and the rest of the staff,” said Yarborough. “The conversations were great. Coach Hand told me that I’m their No. 1 interior offensive lineman on the board and that I’m very high on their board overall.”

Of course, how Yarborough can display his skills and progress as a player is an important thing for him as he decides where he wants to play in college. He and Hand discussed those things as well.

“We talked a lot about how I fit into their offense, my development as a player, and what my future could look like at Florida State,” Yarborough said. “He has a plan for when I step on campus to develop me from day one. Those conversations definitely meant a lot to me.”

Florida State received a prediction to land Yarborough earlier this week. If Washington doesn’t blow him away, this could mean that he’ll be the first offensive line commit for the Seminoles in the 2027 cycle.

Yarborough is the No. 432 player in the country and the No. 34 interior offensive lineman per Rivals industry rankings. In the state of Arizona, he’s the No. 10 prospect.
