PANAMA CITY BEACH — A local restaurant is making waves as being among the friendliest places in the South.
Andy’s Flour Power Cake and Bakery in Panama City Beach was named in Southern Living’s list of the Top 20 Friendliest Places in the South. Here’s what we know:
Where, what is Andy’s Flour Power Cake and Bakery?
Located at 2629 Thomas Drive in the Panama City Beach area, Andy’s Four Power Cake and bakery is a cafe and bakery that specializes in serving breakfast, brunch and lunch, according to its website.
From Monday through Friday, it serves breakfast from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Saturdays and Sundays, it serves brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with live jazz performances from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What is Southern Living’s list?
According to Southern Living’s website, its list of the top 20 friendliest places in the south is based its list on reader-submitted nominations.
There is no ranking to the list. It is simply a collection of 20 restaurants or neighborhood shops known for their hospitality.

In the Southern Living article, John Certo, chef-owner of Andy’s Flour Power Cake and Bakery, said, “It means the world to me to hear people say the boy from New York is bringing back Southern hospitality.”
The restaurant’s website notes its crew arrives “each and every day, in the wee hours of the morning, before the sun is even up.”
“While the rest of the world is starting to stir, we’ve been hard at work for hours,” the website reads. “We’re putting our very best into everything that comes through our doors, whether it’s something as simple as the strawberries on your french toast or as involved as the marinated veggies on your frittata.”
