How does the Jaguars TE room shape up after Brenton Strange's exstention?

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Brenton Strange have agreed to a three-year contract extension, a source confirmed to the Times-Union.

Strange, a former second-round pick, is now tied to the organization for the foreseeable future after having a breakout campaign in 2025.

He caught a career-high 46 passes for 540 yards and scored three touchdowns while also emerging as a key blocker in Jacksonville’s rushing attack.

Now, Strange gets to remain as a key contributor for the Jaguars as they try to duplicate their success in Liam Coen’s first year as head coach.

“I just control what I can control every single day,” Strange told the Times-Union earlier this offseason. “My effort, what I put in outside of the building … that’s just the biggest thing for me.”

Strange headlines a mixed bunch in the tight end room this season. Let’s take a look at how the rest of room shapes up.

Nate Boerkircher

Boerkircher was the first pick by the Jaguars in the 2026 draft class. A tight end with strong blocking prowess, he had 198 yards receiving and three touchdowns in college.

He’s likely to carve out an early role with the team as they transition to more tight end sets this season.

Tanner Koziol

Koziol was a standout pass catcher for in college, recording 2,234 yards and 24 receiving touchdowns in his career.

He’s already made an impact with the Jaguars as he snagged several impressive catches during summer workouts. He’ll also likely have an early role as the team tries to use different personnel groupings to disguise their true intentions.

Quintin Morris

Morris worked his way onto the Jaguars roster last season as a depth player. He recorded six catches for 55 yards and a touchdown in 14 games last season.

The team re-signed him in free agency, bringing him back on a one-year deal.

Hunter Long

Long was brought in as a free agent signing last offseason, bringing some system familiarity after spending time with the Los Angeles Rams. He recorded 12 catches for 85 yards and two touchdowns in his first season in Jacksonville. He has the most experience in the tight end room currently.

Patrick Herbert

Brother to Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, Patrick spent last season on Jacksonville’s practice squad. He’ll have a shot to beat out one of the veteran players in camp to potentially earn a roster spot.

Ethan Conner

Conner signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent earlier in the offseason. He had 59 receptions for 680 yards and seven touchdowns during his career at Troy.

It’ll be a longshot for him to make the roster, but the Jaguars did have two undrafted free agents make their final roster in 2025.
