Florida State softball’s superstar shortstop Isa Torres has entered the NCAA Transfer portal.
It’s the second major portal entry for the program, which has already lost third baseman Jaysoni Beachum to the transfer portal.
Torres’ resume is among the best in the nation, and she will be the best player available in the transfer portal. She is the reigning D1 Softball National Player of the Year, USA Softball National Player of the Year finalist, ACC Player of the Year, and is an All-American, among other major honors.
Torres shared a post on social media and said it was a “difficult decision” to leave the Seminoles program.
“This decision is not about leaving something behind. It’s about pursuing a new opportunity and embracing a new challenge,” Torres said as part of her social media post. “My respect, appreciation, and love for Florida State remain unchanged.”
In her junior season, Torres held an eye-watering .530 batting average, which ranks top-15 in NCAA history, and she recorded 56 RBI. She added 16 home runs, scored 78 runs while setting an NCAA record with 16 hits in 16 at-bats, the most consecutive hits in as many at-bats.
While an offensive juggernaut, Torres was equally impressive defensively at shortstop, which landed her ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors. She did not record a regular-season error and finished the season with a .989 fielding percentage, including the postseason.
As a Seminole, Torres hit .439, with 261 hits, 49 doubles, nine triples, 34 home runs, and 158 RBI with 186 runs scored in her three years in Tallahassee.
