TPD Watch Commander Damon Miller said officers found three adults suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

“The adult shooter was taken into custody,” he said. The suspect was not immediately identified.

Miller said the shooting sprang from a fight within a gathering of people outside.

The latest shooting, which is a part of a rash of gun violence involving a group of people and multiple victims, remains under investigation.

So far this year, 10 people have been killed and 23 injured in at least 26 serious shootings in the capital city and Leon County, according to a Tallahassee Democrat analysis of gun violence that tracks incidents involving injury, death or a clear risk of serious harm.Eight of those injured and one fatality have come in the span of two weeks.

On Thursday at about 4 a.m., TPD responded to “a shots fired” call at the Marathon Gas – Skyline Express in the 1100 block of West Orange Avenue. Two victims with non-life threatening injuries reported to the hospital and an additional victim with a gunshot wound to the hand showed up at the crime scene.

On May 23, gunfire erupted at an “unsanctioned pop-up party” at about 5 a.m. in a Tallahassee parking garage near the student apartment complex Legacy Suites on Chapel Drive.

An 18-year-old Georgia student with a bright future who graduated a day earlier was killed and two others sustained non-life threating injuries. Family say Gavin Yates-Lyons, the Lowndes County High School graduate who finished high school early and was attending college at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, was caught in the crossfire.

The suspect or suspects remain at large.

Anyone with information is asked to call TPD at 850-891-4200 or Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS. More information will be released as it becomes available.
