FSU gets prediction to land elite in-state 2028 edge

Florida State landed its first two commitments in the 2028 cycle in three-star athlete Chayse Brown and three-star tight end Troy Silberzahn over the last month. On Saturday morning, they got a projection to land another one.

It is on the defensive side of the ball and for a four-star prospect, per Zach Blostein of 247Sports. He logged a crystal ball prediction for four-star edge Meshi Dobson to commit to FSU. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder transferred from Plantation High School to Cypress High School for his junior year.

With close to 40 offers, Dobson is a very hot commodity on the recruiting scene. Some of his top suitors are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Miami Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oregon Ducks, Oklahoma Sooners, and Ole Miss Rebels. However, Florida State appears to be the clear leader.

Last June, FSU hosted a camp that Dobson attended. When he left campus, he had a scholarship offer from the Seminoles. When Florida State took on the Miami Hurricanes last October, Dobson was on campus again. Dobson came to Tallahassee for one of their Junior Day events in January as well as their Legacy Weekend in March. He’s clearly been a priority for the Seminoles for quite some time.

One reason that the Seminoles have positioned themselves so well in the recruitment of Dobson is edge coach Nick Williams. Back in February, he spoke about how he and Williams have bonded.

“I think coach Nick Williams, he’s a very brave and intelligent guy. He puts a lot of energy into it when talking to me,” Dobson said per Noles247. “He shows a lot of love. Other coaches, they’ll just talk to you, but Nick, he brings that energy.”

Dobson was a force during his sophomore campaign. He finished the season with 72 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery per MaxPreps. In addition to his edge work, Dobson has also played some tight end.

The last time Blostein had a crystal ball for FSU was earlier this week when he predicted that 2027 four-star athlete Za’Kari Johnson, who committed the next day. It’s also important to note that Dobson is considering being reclassified for the 2027 class, just like Johnson did, which would be major if the Seminoles landed him on top of that.

Dobson is the No. 324 player nationally and the No. 34 edge according to 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 49 recruit in the state of Florida.
