Former Bucs DL listed as a player another NFC team should target

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass rusher Haason Reddick may still be searching for his next NFL home, but ESPN’s Aaron Schatz believes one NFC contender should strongly consider making a move.

In a recent look at players teams should still target before the start of the season, Schatz identified the Minnesota Vikings as a potential landing spot for Reddick. While Minnesota features a strong starting duo of Dallas Turner and Andrew Van Ginkel on the edge, Schatz questioned the depth behind them and suggested the Vikings could benefit from adding another experienced pass rusher to the rotation.

Reddick’s lone season in Tampa Bay did not produce the sack numbers many expected. He finished the year with 2.5 sacks, but Schatz noted that his underlying pass-rush production remained far more encouraging than the raw statistics suggest. According to the ESPN analyst, Reddick posted a 12 percent pass-rush win rate in 2025, a figure that compared favorably with several established edge rushers around the league.

Schatz also pointed to scheme fit as a reason Minnesota makes sense. Under defensive coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings regularly use pressure packages, disguised fronts, and zone blitzes that demand versatility from their edge defenders. Reddick’s experience playing in multiple 3-4 defensive systems throughout his career could make that transition smoother than it would be for many available veterans.

The Buccaneers ultimately chose to move in a different direction this offseason, using the 15th overall pick on Rueben Bain Jr. and continuing to build around younger pass rushers such as Yaya Diaby. That decision effectively ended Reddick’s brief stint in Tampa Bay after one season with the organization.

While there is no indication a move to Minnesota is imminent, Schatz believes the fit makes sense for both sides. For the Vikings, it would add proven veteran depth to a team with playoff aspirations. For Reddick, it could provide an opportunity to rebuild his market value while contributing to one of the NFC’s most aggressive defensive schemes.
