Florida State worked out a pretty large group of prospects during their Elite Camp over the weekend. Ryquan Butler, an unranked 2028 linebacker, made the journey from Notasulga, Alabama.
The Loachapoka High School standout was able to put on quite a show for linebackers coach Ernie Sims and the Seminoles’ coaching staff. Once things concluded, Butler left with a scholarship offer from FSU, which he announced on social media.
“After a great workout with @FSUFootball I’m blessed to have received and offer From Florida St !!,” said Butler.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder has 11 offers in total. In-state powerhouses, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers, have extended scholarships to Butler as well as several other SEC programs. That list consists of the Tennessee Volunteers, Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Vanderbilt Commodores.
Butler’s sophomore season was a productive one. He finished with 54 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 11 games.
Ernie Sims has already landed three linebackers in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and he’s clearly trying to get a jump on the 2028 class.
