Flagler Beach motorcyclist killed on U.S. 1 near Palm Coast

A 32-year-old Flagler Beach man died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, from injuries suffered when he was thrown from his motorcycle after hitting debris on U.S. 1 near Palm Coast, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at 12:42 a.m. as the man rode his motorcycle south in the inside lane of U.S. 1 south of Belle Terre Boulevard, according to FHP.

The motorcycle collided with debris in the roadway, and the rider was unable to maintain control of the bike. The motorcycle began to wobble, and the man was thrown from it, landing on the roadway, according to the FHP.

The motorcycle veered off the road, across the west grass shoulder and into the woodline and collided with a tree. The rider came to final rest in the outside travel lane of U.S. 1 just south of the motorcycle.

The rider was wearing a helmet, the FHP stated.

This is the eight person to die in a motorcycle crash in Flagler County this year. According to a state website, seven people had died in motorcycle crashes in Flagler County as of Dec. 18.

The eight people to die in motorcycle crashes are nearly half of the 18 total fatalities in crashes for Flagler County so far this year.
